International Summer Gashuku - September 2016

7.00am start for the 'International Summer Gashuku' with Karateka and Instructors from the UK, Poland, Czech Republic, Portugal, Russia and Romania....

 

 

 

 

Warm up on the Winterton valley dunes....

 

 

Sensei Leigh starts with Kanku-dai 'viewing the rising sun' over the North sea....

 

 

The Team events begin with Tug-o-war....
 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

We then spilt into three groups for Sanbon Kumite....

 

 

 

 

 

The infamous 'King of the Hill'.... where teams try  to capture the other's flag....

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

   

 

 

 Saturday Morning 9am...

 

   Beach training over and now to the sea....

 

The North sea extremely inviting and warm this year.....

 

Kata is very difficult against 8ft waves....

Another excellent morning training over and now the traditional rush to the showers....

 Saturday afternoon Great Yarmouth dojo...

 

The students were given jo's and were given a demonstration of Kanazawa no bo dai by Tom, Cary & Nikita....

 

 

The class was spilt into three groups with the three young instructors teaching the bo kata they had just demonstrated....

 

 

 

Sensei Leigh teaches the Dan grades Jitte with the Jo....

Heian Godan...

 

 

The class was split into five groups with each of the sensei teaching Jiu ippon techniques...

 

 The teams create their own Kata to be judged by the sensei....

 

 

The Kata event was followed by team Handball, Football and a special request again from Manchester dojo for 'Netball'.....

After the dojo the swimming gala, events included normal races plus the 'imaginative dive' and 'beat the sensei relay'....

 
 

The picture on the above left clearly shows Mr Dellar ready to dive in which is a clear breach of the 'sensei relay race' rules (only one dive permitted by each team), thus giving his team the advantage over sensei Leigh & Needham in the sensei relay race, this inadvertently resulted in the sensei's loosing by approximately 2 meters which just so happens to be the advantage gained by the illegal dive, apparently Nikita also cheated by entering the water before her co conspirator had touched the side of the pool. These rules have been verified by the British Olympic committee and we declare the sensei's the winners....   Oss

The Saturday evening BBQ is always a great way to unwind from the days training....

The Sunday hike begins in Winterton on Sea..
