Kancho Kanazawa SKKIF Grading Watford - 8th May 2008  This major grading event took place at the Kodokai St Thomas's dojo, and was attended by students from around the country. Congratulations to Cary Leigh, Paul Gray for gaining their 1st Dans also Shamek and Michael Godding for passing their 2nd dan grading. (photo)
Czech Republic tour - 2nd /5th May 2008   Sensei Kevin Leigh and sensei Anne Hastings were this year guests of honour at the annual course at the Karate Husovice dojo in Brno, Czech Republic. The course was attended by students from all over the Czech Republic and with another three senior UK instructors in attendance, Terry Wittkopp, Ivor Garner and Lucie Marsh, the course was again a fantastic success. The hospitality shown by Karate Husovice is always appreciated and this year we were shown around local attractions including Vienna. (Photo tour)
Winter Gashuku - 6th March 2008 The winter Gashuku is now proving one of the highlights of the Karate calendar with over 55 students travelling from around the UK to enjoy excellent training and a fun weekend . This year we were privileged to have training undertaken by Sensei's;  Anne Hastings, Kevin Leigh,  Colin Needham, Ivor Garner, Lucie Marsh & Terry Wittkopp.  (Photo tour)
Kancho Kanazawa Open course & SKKIF grading Windsor - 17th/18th November 2007  Kodokai students trained this weekend with  Kancho Kanazawa, sensei Akhita, Diazo and Fumitoshi Kanazawa at Windsor. With students from around the world the course was  another great success which was followed by the SKKIF grading where  Kodokai students all successfully passed their Gradings. James Needham, Kristan Clark, Simone Lurze, Alex Stewart-White all passing 1st dan and Renauldo Gordon getting 2nd dan.
Sensei Diazo Kanazawa at Kodokai dojo- 15th November 2007  Kancho Kanazawa's son Diazo, visits Kodokai on his first ever visit to the UK. Sensei was also treated to a trip to Windsor and was shown around the historic Windsor castle.  (Photo tour)                    
International Summer Gashuku - 7th/9th Sept 2007  The International Summer Gashuku was held in Longbeach, Hemsby, Norfolk with students from the UK and the Czech Republic. This year we were honoured to have sensei Anne Hastings JKA 6th dan teaching and the students were treated to well co-ordinated sessions with all senior Instructors. The training was varied covering 5 different locations with the usual mix of Karate and team events plus the notorious sea training and 'King of the Hill'. Czech Republic - May 2007   Sensei Leigh took a group of senior Kodokai black belts to train and run a course at the Karate Husovice dojo in Brno, Czech Republic for the second year running. The course was again well attended with over 70 students, many of whom had travelled from all over Czech. On the Sunday after the Kodokai entorage were shown round Bratislava and looked after by Karate Husovice in their ususal enthusiatic way. (Photo tour)
Kancho Kanazawa Open course Lillishall - April 2007  Kodokai students trained this weekend with with Kancho Kanazawa, sensei Akhita and Nobuaki Kanazawa. With students from around the world the course was hard work but it was another highly successful course which was followed by the SKKIF grading where 11 Kodokai students all successfully passed their Gradings. Winter Gashuku - 2nd/4th March 2007  The Winter Gashuku took place at Hermanus Holiday Centre in Winterton on Sea Norfolk. This year was well attended with over 45 students and again a tremendous success, especially Saturday night and the infamous fancy dress disco.  (Photo tour)
International Summer Gashuku - Sept 2006 The International Summer Gashuku was held in Longbeach, Hemsby, Norfolk with students from UK clubs and the Czech Republic.  This years head instructors were sensei's Kevin Leigh, Colin Needham and Steve Marriot. SKIF World Championship Tokyo Japan - Nov 2006  Four Kodokai students attended for the SKIF World championships in Toky0 Japan as members of the UK SKKIF Karate squad. Phil Suddick 3rd dan, Ban Pritchard 2nd dan, Shamek 1st dan and Remus Nistorel 1st dan. With over seventy countries competing from around the world the standard was extremely high with all four of Kodokai competitors doing very well in their individual and team events.  (Photo)

Czech Republic tour - 27th April 2006  Sensei Kevin Leigh and sensei Bill Brown took 10 senior Kodokai black belts to train and run a course at the Karate Husovice dojo in Brno, Czech's second City. The course was a fantastic success with students travelling from all over the Czech Republic and it is now planned to make this a regular event due to it's popularity in Brno.  (Photo tour)
Kancho Kanazawa Open course Watford - 11th March 2006  At the age of 74 Kancho taught over 400 Karate students who attended Watford leisure Centre for the Saturday course. Accompanied by Sensei's Murakami 6th Dan and Sensei Akita 5th dan, the UK again witnessed one of the the best Karate courses to date with students attending from all over the world. (Photo tour)

International SKIF Open course Lillishall - Nov 2005 15 Kodokai students attended with Kancho Kanazawa, sensei Murakami and Nobuaki Kanazawa. With many visitors from around the world the course was hard work but it was great weekend culminating with William Acquaah, Michael Godding and Chris Tyson passing their 1st dan grading and sensei Leigh achieving his 5th dan. Anne Hastings course - Oct 2005 We were absolutely privileged to have sensei Anne Hastings 6th dan visit the Kodokai dojo for the first time.  X world Kata and Kumite champion sensei Hastings captivated the dojo for the full 2 hours and we look forward to her visiting us again next year.  (Photo)
Summer Gashuku September 2005  This years Summer Gashuku in Norfolk was another great success with extra activities to keep everyone occupied from beach volley ball to sand castle building contest!!! Attended this year by Kodokai and Manchester 'Swinton' club members, the sea training this year was a bit limited as the tides were too strong but we still managed to get a good soaking.  (Photo tour)
SKKIF National Championships Watford - May 8th 2005  Sensei Kanazawa presided over this years event which took place at Watford leisure centre on Sunday 8th May. The events took just over 8 hours to complete with a  interlude of traditional Chinese dancing by a local Chinese dance school. (Photos and results)
Kancho Kanazawa Open course Watford - 7th May 2005 At the age of 74 Sensei still managed to attract over 450 Karate students from all over the UK and many from Europe and the US who attended Watford leisure Centre for the Saturday course. Accompanied by Sensei's Ryusho Suzuki 5th Dan and Sensei Akita 5th dan, this was the biggest course held in Europe so far.  (Photo tour)

Grading with Kancho Kanazawa - 16th December 2004  This major grading event took place at Windsor, and was attended by students from around the country and an especially large number from Kodokai. Congratulations to Mathew Clark  for gaining his 1st dan and Bryn Green, Julie Crawford, Fleming Jetmar and Adrian Holt for gaining their 2nd Dans.  (Photo)
Kancho Kanazawa Watford October 2004  Great to see Sensei Kanazawa at the Kodokai dojo again twice in one year!!. Attended by over 50 students, Sensei was thoroughly entertained by and looked after again by the Kodokai students. (Photo tour)

Kancho Kanazawa - Watford 15th April 2004    Kodokai once again welcomed Kancho Kanazawa at the Kodokai dojo . Sensei still outshines most people half his age with technique and power. Kancho  and his son Nobuaki also carried out a senior SKKIF grading at the Kodokai dojo the following week. (Photo tour)

Summer Gashuku - September 2003   With Sensei's K Leigh 4th dan and C Needham 4th dan the weekend was a great success and the weather and attendance  superb. With additional tuition from Sensei's Shaun McCartan, Graham Riley and Bruce Rice. The pink belt was awarded this year to Guy Quint & Ben Pritchard received the William Acquaah Award. (Photo tour)  
SKKIF National Championships - 6th April 2003  The championships were held at Watford leisure centre with the events taking just over 8 hours to complete, there was a welcome interlude of traditional Chinese dancing by a local Chinese dance school.
Winter Gashuku - February 2003   The Gashuku was again a great success with everyone enjoying the mix of training and social activities, especially the now infamous Viking night where every one lets their Viking other half to the fore. Kancho Kanazawa, Kodokai dojo - Nov 2002   We were honoured to have Kancho Kanazawa teaching at our dojo in Watford. Kancho was on fine form and was as inspiring as usual, we focused on basics to accommodate the lower grades and allow the higher grades to try to perfect their stances. (Photo tour)

Summer Gashuku - September 2002   Despite the bad weather and the high winds this years Summer Gashuku was again a great success, we still managed to train in the sea and the beach which is always the highlight of the Summer Gashuku.  (Photo tour)
