International Summer Gashuku - September 2015

7.00am start for the 'International Summer Gashuku' with Karateka and Instructors from all over the UK....

The senior UK instructors this year include sensei....

Sensei Leigh starts with Kanku-dai 'viewing the rising sun' over the North sea....

 

 

The students are split into groups for further Kata and basic training....

The Kata Sepai is taught to senior grades....

 Saturday Morning 9am...

With the early morning training over we head to the Great Yarmouth dojo....

 

 

We begin with Happo kumite....

   Grades were divided into groups with the senior instructors teaching each section....

 

It's about this time each day when Sensei Garners medication begins to wear off....

 

 

 

The students were put into 2 teams for the weekend events, first event is team kata....

 

 

The Kata event was followed by team Handball, Football and a special request again from Manchester dojo for 'Netball'.....

 Swimming events...

After the dojo the swimming gala, events included normal races plus the 'imaginative dive' and 'beat the senseis relay'....

Sensei Needham and Leigh extremely happy to win the sensei relay race after two years losing to the much younger students....

 Saturday afternoon 1.30pm...

1.30pm we walk to Winterton Valley where we start the beach training....

 

 

Warm up then team games on the Winterton valley dunes....

 

To the amusement of the locals beach training begins....

 

Bo Training on Hemsby beach....

Team beach Volleyball begins....

 

 

The infamous 'King of the Hill'.... where teams try  to capture the other's flag....

 

 

 

The North sea extremely inviting and warm this year.....

Kata is very difficult against 8ft waves....

Kata, sit-ups, press-ups & Sumo wrestling... the fun never ceases!!

Sumo in the North sea....

The team pyramid building contest begins. The higher the better....

 

 

 

Another excellent morning training over and now the traditional rush to the showers....

 Saturday Evening....

The Saturday evening BBQ is always a great way to unwind from the days training....

 Saturday Evening at the Dolphin bar....

Karaoke and Party night with Chris at the Dolphin....

 Sunday Morning 8am....

 

The Sunday hike begins in Winterton on Sea..

 

 

 

 8.30am....

 

Training in Winterton heights, Heian Nidan & Sepai kata and bunkai...

 

 10.00am....

The sand castle building contest begins...

 

 10.30am....

Followed by the sensei Leigh treasure hunt....

 

 11.00am....

Sumo begins....

 

 11.30am....

 

Ye Olde traditional Gashuku game of 'Welly wanging'....

 

 

Tug-o-war....

 

 

 

 We finish with team rounders....

Sensei Leigh and Needham are so happy to see such talented players....

 Presentations...

Gashuku finishes with the awards for various achievements and honours earned over the weekend...
